Description
Acclaimed for turning Hydrangeas blue, Espoma® Soil Acidifier is ideal for acid loving plants. Its highly pure organic soil supplementation safely decreases soil pH for months. Controlled-release formulation of 30 percent sulfur safely increases sulfur levels. For each point of pH soil reduction desired, apply six pounds per 50 square feet of soil. Desirable soil pH reduction can be determined through soil testing. To avoid stressing plants, step the pH down gradually. When soil is optimum pH, Hydrangeas will offer a bounty of beautifully blue blooms, instead of pink or white blooms indicating higher pH.
Espoma® Soil Acidifier performs better than aluminum sulfate due to higher levels of sulfur, longer lasting formulation, natural ingredients and non-toxicity to plants and animals. Plant burns are prevented through lower salt index, as compared to other soil acidifiers.
Perfect for the following acid lovers: Evergreens, Amaryllis, Bleedingheart, Aster, Ferns, Gardenia, Hemlock, Andromeda, Bayberry, Camellia, Heather, Rhododendron, Hydrangea, Azalea, Lily-of-the-Valley, Lupine, Magnolia, Holly, Huckleberry, Raspberry, Strawberries, Spruce, Blueberry, Dogwood, Leucothoe, Marigold, White Cedar, Inkberry, Juniper, Mountain Ash, Oak, Pachysandra, Fir, Heath, Mountain Laurel, Phlox, Pieris, Pine and Woodsorrel. 6 lb bag.

We recommend wearing gardening gloves when feeding your plants.
Hydrangeas & Blueberries: Apply in the spring to lower soil pH.
New Plantings: 1-1/4 cups per plant.
Established Plants: 2-1/2 cups per plant
Spread evenly around the plant out to the drip line and water well. Repeat in 60 day intervals until desired pH or bloom color is achieved.
Potted Plants: One tbsp. for each 4˝ of pot diameter.
Broadcast Rate: Apply 12 lbs. per 100 sq. ft. for each one point reduction in soil pH desired. For heavy clay soils increase rate to 15 lbs. Gradual reduction in soil pH is preferred as dramatic reduction can result in stress.
As a Fertilizer: Apply 1/2 cup per 100 square feet (1 tablespoon per plant) around the root zone
*Safer than Aluminum Sulfate due to potential toxic levels of Aluminum with continued use of Aluminum Sulfate.
How to apply: Spread evenly around the plant out to the drip line and water well. Repeat in 60 day intervals until desired pH or bloom color is achieved.
